Their brand selection is a bit limited due to floor space, but Harvest Market has made up for it via International Foods, and this is where one of the major issues for Harvest Market lies. The stores stock a mix of groceries similar to pretty much any other major player in Houston. Even still, this small chain has carved out somewhat of a niche in its market. As for the grocery store, a typical Harvest Market is much smaller than its competition. Harvest Market utilizes a food court-type setup that allows for multiple quick-service food counters next to a small dining area. The difference between Harvest Market and grocerants of about 10-20 years ago is pretty stark. Instead, Harvest Market brought the latest generation of the Grocerant concept to town or the suburbs. That would likely go to HEB’s Chicken Restaurant Concept or maybe even Kroger’s partnership with Taco Bell and Pizza Hut Express. Harvest Market didn’t necessarily introduce the concept to Houston. Instead, it’s a grocery store that also serves as a restaurant. No, a Grocer-rant isn’t a long-winded complaint about customers. However, they’d prefer it if you called them a “Grocerant” instead. Harvest Market stores feature everything you’d find in a standard Supermarket, Perishables, Pantry Foods, Service Departments, and even a pharmacy at some stores. The Lofts at Pine Market will be the first multi-family complex in Woodforest. In addition to a growing commercial corridor, Woodforest residents enjoy numerous parks, miles of trails, two pools, tennis, basketball, a sports park, community center and other amenities. Pricing ranges from the $300,000s to more than $1 million. In Woodforest, a dozen homebuilders offer single-family homes, custom homes and homes for those ages 55 and up. ![]() In addition to retailers, the Pine Market complex will include a great space to be used for art festivals, farmers markets and other planned activities. Also open in Woodforest is Woodforest National Bank, as well as Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, the first tenant in a planned 100,000-SF office and medical complex. In all, 25 retailers have opened in the first two phases. Realty 1 has completed the first two phases of Pine Market in Woodforest’s commercial corridor for tenants such as Harvest Market, Luv Coffee, Adventure Kids Playcare, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming, Tacos 2 Go and Premier Martial Arts. The entire third phase is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2022. The other two buildings will be dedicated to retail with more than 8,000 SF each. Buildings 1 and 2 comprise 55,000 SF for retail and The Lofts at Pine Market. Offering an estimated 70,000 SF, the 7-acre center to the east of Pine Market Avenue and Sundown Stroll Drive will be split into four buildings. Realty 1 Partners is working on phase three of One Market, the commercial center of Woodforest. “More retail is under construction now, but the first two phases of Pine Market are nearly full as retailers, restaurants and service providers are drawn by our growing population, which stands at about 10,000.” ![]() “These apartments will provide an urban type of experience with dining and retail all within walking distance,” said Virgil Yoakum, Woodforest General Manager. The urban-style apartments - managed by Magnolia Property Company - are slated to welcome their first tenants in July. Floor plans range from 560 to 1,411 SF and include studio, one- and two-bedroom designs. The 51 apartment units - which are for those age 55 and older - are expected to offer rents at $1,500 a month.
